Panalpina, the world’s fourth biggest ocean freight forwarder by transport volumes, and CMA CGM, one of the world’s leading shipping groups, have signed a sustainability agreement aimed at reducing their respective carbon emissions by 2025. As of 2020, newbuild LNG-powered mega-vessels with a capacity of 22,000 twenty-foot containers (TEUs) will help achieve the environmental goals.

Many pharmaceutical companies require that Panalpina's business units that handle their products are certified according to Good Distribution Practice (GDP), a set of guidelines for the proper distribution of medicinal products for human use. Today, 70 Panalpina business units around the world are GDP-compliant. Out of these locations, 30 are GDP-certified and this number is on the increase.

Panalpina hat heute ihren Nachhaltigkeitsbericht für das Jahr 2014 veröffentlicht. Darin werden die erzielten Fortschritte im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit und den dazugehörenden Programmen aufgezeigt. Panalpina hat ihren Energie-, Papier- und Wasserverbrauch sowie ihre Treibhausgasemissionen verringert. Der Bericht wurde gemäss den aktuellen Richtlinien der Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) erstellt.
