International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina is establishing its presence in Oman, leveraging the company’s long-standing experience in Project Solutions and the Energy sector to support the country’s burgeoning economic and infrastructural growth. Panalpina Oman expects to open its office in the capital Muscat by the end of the third quarter in 2019.

A scheduled shutdown of a deep-water oil platform is no small undertaking. For one Panalpina customer, their entire maintenance plan would have been derailed if not for Panalpina’s innovative African Star solution for transporting large shipments from the U.S. to Angola expeditiously. Four heat exchangers with a total weight of 47,210 kg were shipped from the U.S. to Luanda in a few days only.

Panalpina was recently contracted by Salini Impregilo (ISJV), a leading global construction firm, to transport the two main towers of a new rail bridge for Sydney Metro, Australia’s biggest public transport project. Transport for NSW, the authority that manages the transport services in the state of New South Wales, Australia and owns the project, tasked ISJV to build the bridge.

Bruno is pretty upbeat these days. A few weeks ago, he reached an agreement with Belgium-based medical device company IBA. Panalpina will soon be offering comprehensive value-added warehousing and global transportation services to IBA from its hub at Brussels Airport. For this purpose, a new 2,800 m2 facility is being built. Construction is about to begin.

Cameron Kerr is supervising the construction of Panalpina’s giant new Logistics Manufacturing Services center at Dubai World Central Airport. 90% of the building has been constructed and completion is planned for mid-August. One of Panalpina’s oil and gas customers is currently engaged in a 15-year drilling program in Oman. The customer enlisted a big steel manufacturer, to supply 62 kilometers of gas pipeline to support the project. Fast track development meant the customer required longer than usual pipes. To ensure timely shipment of this irregular-shaped cargo, Panalpina’s expertise was called upon.

With the Brazil Wings service, Panalpina offers scheduled main deck capacity to South America from the U.S. The many benefits of this and many other services will again be presented at Intermodal South America. Since Brazil Wings launched in 2015, customers have mostly used it for high-tech products, heavy machines and equipment for agriculture, chemicals as well as aerospace and consumer goods.
