Urban mobility: first aerial vehicle prototypes for aerospace group FACC transported
Global freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina is transporting some futuristic freight – autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs) for moving people or goods efficiently in cities. Under a partnership between Austrian aerospace group FACC and Chinese technology company EHang, Panalpina transported the first prototypes by air freight, also taking care of customs brokerage and last-mile delivery.

Lower sulfur limits: Panalpina actively helping customers deal with supply chain impact
Panalpina is ready to support Ocean Freight customers in dealing with higher costs and potential disruptions as a result of the lower sulfur limits. Already this year, cargo owners will feel the impact of new rules on ship emissions coming into force. From 2020, the sulfur content of bunker fuels will be reduced to 0.5 percent, compared to 3.5 percent now in most parts of the world.

Christmas came early this year for Panalpina’s Air Freight department in the form of another transport record.
6,000 km overland shipment from China to Kyrgyzstan
In barely 14 days, Panalpina completed a 6,000 km cross-border journey to deliver 125 tons of industrial equipment from Wuxi, a city near Shanghai, China, to Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, for Swiss-based Bühler Group.
Air freight peak season: ready for take-off
The 2018 air freight peak season is due to begin after Chinese Golden Week. Many trade lanes have already seen double-digit rate increases and further increases are expected. Panalpina has secured extra flights and ensured readiness on the ground and is also testing a new charter tool, which provides an overview of scheduled cargo flights and of all cargo aircraft available for chartering.
Move over Mo Salah: Egypt has a new dazzling star
Around the same size as 4,000 football pitches, Benban Solar Park in Egypt will be the biggest solar power installation in the world when it opens. In line with its efforts in the renewables sector, Panalpina will bring in its global expertise in capital projects to deliver the plant’s components and panels.
The art of logistics
Ballett Zürich was invited to perform Anna Karenina as a high profile guest at the 46th Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF), which took place from February 23 to March 24, 2018. Opernhaus Zürich, home to the company, tasked Panalpina with the transportation of all its theatrical equipment, including stage setting and costumes, from Zurich to Hong Kong.
Making way for Harmony
Panalpina recently completed the move of the artwork ∞Harmony (一團和氣) by renowned Chinese cross-media artist Wang Kaifang, in a 1,600 km operation from Nanjing to Macau, where he was invited to display his work by prominent high-fashion designer Guo Pei.
Cross-energy management for a balanced mix with thyssenkrupp
Renewables are an important part of the energy mix, and Panalpina is putting significant resources into the sector. Panalpina’s Energy and Project Solutions recently secured three key contracts to manage a total of six projects in Australia – five solar farms and a biomass power plant. The projects, including one by thyssenkrupp, will transform the renewable energy sector in the country.
