Love-struck Australians who want to give out roses for Valentine’s Day on February 14 have Panalpina and the Kenyan horticultural industry to thank. International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina has just flown an entire Boeing 777 cargo aircraft packed full of freshly cut roses from Nairobi to Sydney, right in time for the romantic holiday.

In 2017, leading integrated services company Downer awarded Panalpina with the Ross River Solar Farm contract. Panalpina’s Energy and Project Solutions recently secured three key contracts to manage a total of six projects in Australia – five solar farms and a biomass power plant. The projects, including one by thyssenkrupp, will transform the renewable energy sector in the country.

The thyssenkrupp blue.cruiser has taken an impressive second place in the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) Cruiser Class of the World Solar Challenge. The SolarCar team from Hochschule Bochum did an excellent job throughout the race and was the first of its class to arrive at the finish line, but the Eindhoven team took the first prize thanks to a better overall standing.

Panalpina was recently contracted by Salini Impregilo (ISJV), a leading global construction firm, to transport the two main towers of a new rail bridge for Sydney Metro, Australia’s biggest public transport project. Transport for NSW, the authority that manages the transport services in the state of New South Wales, Australia and owns the project, tasked ISJV to build the bridge.

Panalpina had to operate with a steady hand earlier this year as it assisted in the transportation of some very delicate cargo. For the Ichthys LNG Project, several large air cooled condensers (ACCs) were carefully lowered into place. With a very restrictive error margin, the team had to make sure the lifts were conducted with absolute precision.
